2022 was a busy year for the Raspbearies and the cupboard is somewhat bear (oops, bare)! I regret to say I am slowing down with age and a bit of arthritis. Also, our attention is often given to a handful of dear, but rambunctious, grandkids. Your support is keeping me going and my muse still visits to whisper all those silly bear and critter ideas in my ear. Hope she continues for a while longer!





Apple Cobblear

Apple Cobblear is made of a cotton string fabric in my wobbler-style bear. He comes equipped with 2 wooden apples, an apple- themed ceramic bowl and just the right-sized spoon. Finally, he has an appliqued apple bib and a very sweet smile!

Bearnana



7'' Tall, Banana 12' long



The color of this mohair fabric was listed as 'Banana - like the inside'. So, of course, it became the inside (yummy) part as a little bear in an Ultrasuede, zip-up banana peel! The banana is also lined with a bunches-of-bananas cotton print. The wee bear can be completely zipped up in his peel, but why would you want to?

Plum Tuckered





It has been a long day in the garden and this gal is Plum Tuckered! Thank goodness for this comfy chair at hand. Plum Tuckered is 12" tall and dressed in her battered sun hat, overalls and neckerchief.
She has a basketful of veggies, a muddy rake and empty watering can.
Luckily, her chair is included, too!

Shakespeare could not have written it better! Or maybe he did?
Our portly, porcine Hamlet is made of a sparse mohair and stands 10" tall.
Dressed in doublet and ruff with a princely crown, Hamlet ponders the skull of his deceased pal.
Glass eyes, Ultrasuede hooves & ear linings, a noble Ultrasuede nose and curly, wired tail .
Hamlet is traditionally jointed.
His filling is mostly polyester with an internal belly bag of steel shot and pellets.

This palm sized bunny is 7" tall plus 1.5' of wired ears. He is made of dark chocolate mohair with
hand-dyed alpaca 'cream' chest and fluffy tail.
He comes in his hand-stenciled eclair box which is tied with bakery string.

The Crayonbearies Gallery





One of the Raspbearies' signature bears, the Crayonbearies are hand-dyed to match favorite crayon colors - or decor or fabric swatch or ribbon or whatever you can give me to match! And these fellows just snuggle right into the palm of your hand. (It's the steel shot and pellets). Many of my collectors like to group seasonal colors. I will sometimes offer 'Special Editions" of the Crayonbearies which can be multicolored. See the 'Archive' page for examples and check this space. They are usually a bit more expensive.


Unless otherwise noted, they are 8" tall, made of mohair dyed in old lobster pots on my stove for the dyeing (really!) and they have glass eyes in their sweet faces. They are loosely jointed and filled with polyester, pellets & steel shot. If the bears are crayon colors, they come with their own matching crayon.

The 'Far Out' Gallery





Who remembers that Crayola did fluorescent crayons back when? Recently, I found that Rit Dye had 2 fluorescent dyes and that fluorescent fabric paints were also available. Well, time to experiment!

I ended up with 8 Crayonbearies in 2 sizes and 4 different fluorescent colors. My favorite technique for dyeing produced a fabric with fluorescent paint on the backing of the mohair. In the areas where the mohair is trimmed down, as on the muzzle, the effect is that the little guy is 'lit from within' when under UV light. Now, if you don't still have your UV light strips in your party room, there are small UV flashlights available (really... Amazon, of course) and I have a couple on hand. I even found a limited number of vintage 'Jumbo' Fluorescent Crayola crayons to go with the 10" bears and some regular size crayons for the 8" bears.
